Today officially starts the next chapter in our lives. The guys got back last night with our belongings about 6:30 and we dropped the trucks off at the new house. They had a horrible drive though with icy snow covered roads a good part of the way. Larry even had a close call with the pick-up that he was pulling a large U-Haul trailer with. More about that here. It was almost 2 years ago exactly that we put the retirement plan into motion. We put our house on the market and went shopping for a travel trailer that we would use for camping and also to live in while we looked for a new home. I guess one nice surprise is that we really thought we might be in the trailer for at least 6 months. I think the thing that kept us from that was buying a new construction home vs. having to deal on a short sale. Going to be an exhausting week but one we are very much looking forward to. The Next Chapter
- I started this blog to document a new phase of our lives or...The Next Chapter. I have always thought of life as a book with many chapters. So begins Larry and my's latest chapter into retirement. I have been unofficially retired since moving to SW Washington State. I have gotten used to having my days to myself but I am slowly coming around to having Larry home 24/7! He's certainly worked hard all his life and has earned the right to retire! I keep thinking "we're too young for this!" I am, however, starting to look forward to the freedom retirement will bring us. So a lot is happening right now: our house went on the market 2 months ago and we recently bought a travel trailer. Does that scream "retirement" loud and clear or what? This blog is to chronical our new adventures both as first time RV'ers and as new retirees. Maybe some of you can learn from our mistakes!
